Introduction

Think Soundscape, and you can have them all… and more… flawlessly integrated into one single system.
This potential has its roots in history: in 1993, the Sydec Audio Engineering team gave the recording world the first viable solution for PC-based multitrack audio recording. This early system was designed to perform perfectly in professional situations where technical hiccups and failures were simply not an option. And it did succeed, brilliantly, at a time when 486 processors were the best PCs could offer. With its DSP-powered audio recording and mixing engines and associated Soundscape Editor software, the SSHDR1 became the mainstay of many recording and post-production studios. Subsequent refinements and increased power only confirmed its special status in the history of recording. Soundscape was already a PC-based system with a difference. And because of that difference, Sydec Audio Engineering’s expertise is unique…
We know how to design software that is as reliable as dedicated hardware…
…and we know how to build hardware that is as flexible as software, with solutions for every budget, and components that interconnect easily:
- from modular PC-fronted Digital Audio Workstations with on-board DSP-powered audio engines, hard disks and inputs/outputs that can work with any PC without stealing away any of its power (Soundscape 32 and Soundscape 16)… so that you can keep your PC for sample playback, virtual instruments, MIDI sequencing and video playback while you enjoy a guaranteed track count regardless of the number of effects or virtual instruments you are running.
- to PCI cards for native systems (Mixtreme)… combining on-board DSP-powered mixing and multiple inputs/outputs with the user configurable Soundscape Mixer.
- and to total integration with the Mixpander PCI cards that are installed in the host PC and connect to Soundscape Digital Audio Workstations via a proprietary TDM bus, making their huge power available to the Soundscape Mixer while providing multiple channels of bidirectional audio streaming between the Soundscape DAW and the host PC. So that you can route the outputs from your virtual Instruments, DX/VST effects or audio sequencer to the Soundscape Mixer for the best mixing experience, apply native processing to your Soundscape tracks or high-end Soundscape based processes to your native tracks.
With a Soundscape Digital Audio Workstation and Mixpander card, you can run the reference Soundscape Editor software on the most world’s most reliable dedicated audio hardware while making the most of your PC.
If you add a Soundscape Synchronization Board to your Soundscape DAW, your whole system will also benefit from the most comprehensive synchronization and Master Clock facilities available anywhere. Your Soundscape DAW can even output MTC, LTC and BITC simultaneously while slave syncing to another device!
