Mixtreme 192 is a half-length PCI card with one TDIF connector and a pair of RCA connectors on its main backplate. A second backplate hosts the other TDIF connector and a pair of MIDI connectors.
The TDIF connectors provide sixteen inputs and outputs at up to 48kHz (eight per connector), eight inputs and outputs at up to 96kHz (either four inputs and outputs per connector, or eight with only one connector active), or four inputs and outputs at up to 192kHz (two per connector).
 The input and output RCA connectors on the main backplate provide a range of options: by default they are used to receive and transmit a WordClock or Superclock signal. The input connector can also be used for synchronization to a video signal. If the optional S/PDIF daughterboard is fitted the function of the input connector can be switched between Wordclock or SuperClock synchronization, video signal synchronization or S/PDIF. The output connector transmits S/PDIF. Sample rates up to 192kHz are supported for S/PDIF.
The Soundscape Mixer software is powered by the on board DSP based mixing engine. The Mixer’s architecture is the same as used for the high end Soundscape Digital Audio Workstations, adapted for the native environment: the sixteen “Stream” inserts, which can be placed anywhere in the Mixer, are available as audio inputs and outputs to Windows audio applications such as MIDI+Audio sequencers or software samplers. The Soundscape Audio Toolbox provides some essential building blocks for commercial standard mixes, with multi-function dynamics processors (gate, expansion, compression and limiting), delay and delay based effects (chorus, flanger) and dither. Optional effects and processing plug-ins are available from other world renowned developers including Wave Mechanics, TC-Works, Dolby Laboratories Inc., Cedar Audio, Sonic Timeworks, Aphex Systems, Arboretum Systems, Spinaudio, Drawmer and Acuma Labs.
In keeping with the Sydec philosophy, Mixtreme 192 is also an expandable system. Any number of Mixtreme 192s can be installed in the same host computer, limited only by the number of available PCI slots and IRQ numbers (Mixtreme 192 can share an IRQ). For instance, four Mixtreme 192s could be installed for a total of 64 inputs and outputs to and from the host computer with vastly increased DSP power. With the Soundscape Mixer software V2.0 or later, Mixtreme, Mixtreme 192 and Mixpander cards can also be combined within a single system. The cards run from a single instance of the Soundscape Mixer and all have access to any optional effects plug ins you have purchased. And just as for the high end Soundscape DAW systems, a hardware control surface can be used via Console Manager.
Mixtreme 192 is supported by true multi-client drivers (Multimedia and VST compatible ASIO drivers, WDM (Sonar) and GSIF (GigaStudio V2.5) drivers for Windows 2000/XP) and can be used simultaneously by any combination of Windows audio applications such as MIDI+Audio sequencers, software samplers and instruments or editing software.
