Product highlights

Quick facts…
  • Professional Multiformat/Multichannel Converter for Studio, Live and Broadcast Applications
  • 56 or 64 MADI digital inputs and outputs at up to 48kHz, 28 or 32 MADI digital inputs and outputs at up to 96kHz
  • 24 TDIF digital inputs and outputs at up to 48kHz, 12 or 24 TDIF digital inputs and outputs at up to 96kHz
  • 24 balanced analog inputs and outputs at up to 96kHz
  • 64 channel Expansion Bus port
  • Word/SuperClock input and output
  • Connects to Mixpander via Expansion Bus port
  • Connects to Soundscape 32/16, R.Ed, SSHDR1-Plus, Mixtreme or Mixtreme 192 via TDIF
  • Connects to Madixtreme via MADI
  • All input and output channels can be used simultaneously in any configuration. For instance, when using the iBox 64-MADI-TA as a standalone converter unit, it is possible to link the analogue and TDIF inputs to the MADI outputs and the MADI inputs to the analogue and TDIF outputs (some other suppliers of similar equipment would call this "224 channel operation"!). When the iBox is used as part of a Mixpander Bundle, up to 64 input and output streaming channels are available to PC-based applications while the Soundscape Mixer software itself can select any of the available hardware inputs and outputs up to 64 of each.

Overview
The iBox 64-MADI-TA shares the stunning, sculpted look of the latest generation Soundscape units: Soundscape 32, Soundscape 16, Apogee I/O 896 and other new iBox models. And, just as you would expect from Sydec Audio Engineering, it combines superlative sonic quality with the legendary Soundscape build quality.

Click to enlarge...Yet, there is a lot more to this unit than great looks and great sound… with a TDM expansion port, one MADI port, three TDIF ports and twenty-four balanced analogue inputs and outputs, it takes the iBox concept to a new level of versatility:

  • Soundscape digital audio workstation users can connect the TDIF ports to their Soundscape 32, Soundscape 16, R.Ed or SSHDR1-Plus system for analogue/TDIF conversion or MADI/TDIF conversion.
  • PC native system users can connect the TDM expansion port to a Mixpander for the ultimate input, output, DSP-powered mixing and processing solution (“Mixpander Bundle”), or connect the MADI port to a Madixtreme or the TDIF ports to their Mixtreme or Mixtreme 192 card(s).
  • When the expansion port is linked to a Mixpander, the TDIF ports may also be used for connection to a second iBox. For instance, one iBox 64-MADI-TA and one iBox 48-TA could be linked via TDIF to provide 48 analogue inputs and outputs to and from a single Mixpander. Alternatively, the TDIF ports can be used to connect other units including:
    - The Apogee I/O 896 for ADAT, AES/EBU or extra analogue connectivity with Apogee AD/DA conversion.
    - The Soundscape ADDA 2408-R, jointly designed by Digital Audio Denmark and Sydec Audio Engineering, featuring eight high-quality mic preamps with digitally controlled analogue gain and remote control from the software.
    - An iBox 2-Mic, iBox 2-Line, iBox 8-Line or iBox 4-AES.
  • And of course, the appeal of the iBox 64-MADI-TA is not limited to Soundscape users. Its front panel controls allow it to be used as an audio converter for any other equipment compatible with either one of its supported formats.
